As odd an arrangement as you'll find. WNAX has the largest daytime broadcast range of any AM radio station in the US. It was also Lawrence Welk's first big time gig. WNAX stations agreed to certain conditions and were given free advertising on WNAX. WNAX stations sold alcohol blended gasoline ('alky gas').
