Erie Railroad

Erie Railroad

The Erie railroad was chartered in 1832, to provide a rail link from the Hudson to Lake Erie. This route was completed in 1851. Noteworthy on the Erie railroad is the Starrucca Viaduct. Built of stone in 1845 and still in use today.

The Erie merged with the Lackawanna Railroad in 1960, and then was added to Conrail in 1976.
