Times were different. First, this is advertised as 'Early American' Root Beer, and there appears to be a puritan type person on the label. Actually, there's nothing early American about Root Beer. It was invented by William Hires in the late 1800s. Also, this label advises that it is "Rich in Dextrose", a kind of sugar. It's basically saying, "High in calories!!"
